Spotlight on Celebrating the Green

The Ladies European Tour is promoting environmental sustainability through Celebrating the Green presented by Dow, an initiative to help amplify the good work taking place across the tour, as well as inspire and support further action.

Launched in November 2020 and delivered in close partnership with the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, and with support from partner Dow, Celebrating the Green is being carried forward inclusively with people and organizations from across the LET community, including partners, players, tournaments, venues and media.

A major focus will be the gathering and promoting of credible stories and examples from across the LET community, which will span a range of issues directly related to fostering nature, conserving water, energy and materials, engaging communities and taking climate action – all of which are closely aligned to the United Nations ‘Global Goals for Sustainable Development’.

The initiative will celebrate leading examples from players, tournaments and venues.

Suzann Pettersen, two-time major winner whose nine Solheim Cup appearances included holing the winning putt in 2019, was the first professional golfer to become a GEO Sustainable Golf Champion and she was joined by Camille Chevalier, the 2017 LET Rookie of the Year, in 2021.

Leading LET events are integrating environmental and community action, such as the 2020 Aramco Saudi Ladies International which provided the launchpad for Saudi Arabia’s national golf sustainability strategy, the Green Agenda.

Many courses that the Tour visits are implementing sustainability practices such as Finca Cortesin, the venue for the 2023 Solheim Cup.
