GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

  • Active Habitat & Woodland Management: The club follows a structured habitat plan, including selective woodland thinning and understorey clearance to encourage native species like bluebells, with input from stakeholders.
  • Biodiversity Support & Microhabitats: Conservation is supported with bird and bat boxes, deadwood retention, and seasonal protection measures during nesting periods.
  • Drought-Tolerant Turfgrass & Minimal Chemical Use: Greens, tees, and fairways use resilient grass mixes (e.g. browntop bent and red fescue), reducing irrigation and chemical needs. Disease forecasting tools and targeted IPM keep chemical use low.
  • Efficient Irrigation & Water Monitoring: Turf choice, upgraded irrigation heads, moisture sensors, and weather-based scheduling have all helped the club minimize irrigation, supported by a valid abstraction licence.
  • Solar Panel Installation: Solar energy is generated on-site with roof-mounted panels and monitored inverters, reducing emissions and lowering dependency on the grid.
  • Full Waste Separation & On-Site Treatment: Clear waste streams are in place with staff training. A packaged sewage treatment plant and retained washpad system ensure compliant, contained wastewater management.
  • Strong Community Engagement & Partnerships: The club partners with schools and conservation groups, hosting wildlife walks, junior golf, and local green projects. It also supports staff volunteering and charity events.
