2021, 2025, for renewal 2030

Notable Observations

  • Alpine Forest Landscape with Protected Water Sources The century-old course lies at 1,300 metres within a mature alpine forest and a protected water area (Gewässerschutzbereich Au). Seven maintained mineral water sources and one natural spring sit beside the course, requiring careful environmental management.
  • Habitat and Vegetation Mapping A 2021 habitat and vegetation map documents the site’s diverse alpine habitats and guides ongoing management of forest and rough areas.
  • Hand-Mown Greens for Soil and Turf Health Greens are mown by hand to maintain aerobic soil conditions and prevent compaction, ensuring high-quality turf while reducing mechanical stress and energy use.
  • Targeted Irrigation on Greens and Tees Automatic irrigation is used only on greens and tees. Watering schedules are guided by soil moisture conditions and weather forecasts, conserving water while maintaining turf quality.
  • Local Hydropower Electricity Supply Electricity for the facility is sourced from local hydroelectric plants, reflecting the renewable energy mix of the alpine region.
  • Waste Separation and Biogas Collection Recycling bins are clearly marked across the site. Organic waste is collected separately and sent to a local biogas producer for energy generation.
  • Public Access and Recreation A public hiking trail crosses the course, and local residents and visitors use the area for walking and recreation throughout the year, especially in autumn during mushroom season.
  • Open and Inclusive Club Culture Vulpera Golf offers free introductory golf days and hosts school groups for lessons with the professional. The clubhouse restaurant is open to the public and well used by locals and tourists.

“Golf Vulpera is a century-old course sensitively embedded in mature alpine forest at 1,300 m, with careful stewardship in a protected water area. Professional, data-led turf management, minimal and targeted inputs, and hand-mown greens reflect a strong resource-efficiency ethic, while the club’s open, community-oriented culture and local sourcing strengthen its regional value. Continued progress through an updated biodiversity survey, structured OnCourse reviews, and further waterprotection upgrades will consolidate an already robust sustainability performance.”
