Sustainable Golf Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Habitat Conservation: The club has established a designated wildlife area with native grasses, avoiding mowing and pesticide use to protect habitats. Signage highlights this as a habitat conservation effort, leading to increased bird populations over recent years​.
  • Aquatic Ecosystems: The course includes 24 interconnected lakes that support fish species such as bluegill sunfish, pike, and largemouth bass. These lakes not only enhance biodiversity but also act as flood protection for nearby communities​.
  • Water Efficiency: The club uses stormwater and a well system for irrigation, with no reliance on city water. Irrigation is targeted to essential areas using single-head systems and manual watering as needed based on local weather and soil moisture conditions​.
  • Recycling and Composting: Trash, recycling, and compost bins are placed throughout the course to encourage proper disposal. Clippings are composted onsite and reused for course maintenance, aligning with local waste regulations​.
  • Community Engagement: TPC Twin Cities supports various local charities, including United Way and Children’s Hospital, through events and donations. Its TPC Rose initiative, led by women members, has raised over $1.5 million since 2008​.
  • Youth and Inclusivity: Approximately 16.8% of play is from junior members, with programs to engage youth in golf. Efforts are ongoing to expand junior membership and enhance inclusivity in the sport​. .

TPC Twin Cities is a beautiful course that is well managed and provides a feel for the natural habitats of Minnesota. Golfers have the true Minnesota feel through the many water streams running throughout the course providing a home to many species. While this club is new on the journey to sustainability, they have accomplished a groundwork that will allow them to achieve many future goals. I can’t wait to see how their involvement with the local community grows, and the ways they make impactful changes to their operations that promote waste reduction.
