2024, for renewal 2027
TPC River Highlands is unique in that it hosts an annual high-profile professional golf tournament. The tournament, called the Travelers Championship, generates a lot of money for charitable organizations ($3.2 million for 206 non-profits in 2024) and puts the club in the position to host dozens of additional events throughout the year to support local charities. This is a highly visible golf course that is also water and energy efficient and leads by example in its sustainability. Through the use of appropriate cool season grasses and the latest technology, e.g. their 2023 irrigation system and three GPS-enabled sprayers, the course does a good job minimizing water and chemical inputs. The new clubhouse, built in 2019, is also very efficient and creates regular opportunities for multi-functional community engagement. There are additional opportunities to generate renewable energy, electrify the maintenance fleet, provide vegetative buffers around open water, and communicate and educate internally and externally about environmental and sustainability initiatives but, on balance, the management and staff at TPC River Highlands does an exemplary job as stewards of their land.”
