Sustainable Golf Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

Notable Observations

  • Large Forest and Wetland Creation A major project has created a forest and wetland habitat across holes 17, 18, 9 and 3. The area is designed to encourage bird and insect life while reducing maintenance inputs.
  • Endangered and Protected Species Identified A critically endangered Malayan pangolin and a protected purple heron have been identified on site. These species are recorded as part of the club’s understanding of its biodiversity responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive Habitat and Wildlife Mapping A detailed habitat map has been developed, supported by photos and descriptions of plant and animal species. A wildlife survey has also been completed and documented.
  • Targeted Irrigation Limited to Playing Areas The irrigation system is designed so that out-of-play areas are not irrigated. Water use is focused only on essential playing surfaces.
  • Solar Panels Installed on Buildings Solar panels have been installed on clubhouse roofs. Further installations on additional roof structures are being explored.
  • Removal of Single-Use Plastics Single-use plastics have been eliminated across the facility. Waste is also audited monthly and separated by stream.
  • Large Scale Charity Fundraising Events The club regularly hosts charity events that raise significant funds each year for partner charities. These activities form a consistent part of its community engagement.
  • Structured Sustainability Governance and Communication A sustainability committee is in place, supported by a dedicated sustainability executive. Sustainability updates are shared through a monthly newsletter and discussed in regular team meetings.
“

“The Bukit Course at The Singapore Island Country Club is the most naturally beautiful out of all of their courses, with large heritage trees and serene jungle encompassing the property. The club loves their course and the natural environment surrounding it, which is evident in how the members are actively involved. It is always a pleasure to visit here and see the commitment to the environment, and I look forward to seeing them continue to progress”
