• Lowland Heathland Restoration The club is restoring heathland by removing pioneer species that would otherwise outcompete heather and allow the landscape to transition towards woodland. Bunker restoration also forms part of this wider programme.
• Connected Habitat Corridors Course management considers how natural corridors can connect habitat areas within the golf course and link them with surrounding landscapes. The site forms part of a protected lowland heathland ecosystem associated with Chobham Common SSSI, SAC and SPA.
• Wildlife Habitat Features Bat boxes, amphibian housing, bird boxes and bug hotels have been installed to support wildlife. Natural roughs are left unfertilised, mowing buffers are maintained and native aquatic species are prioritised.
• Precision Weed Treatment Spot treatment and AI technology are used to target weeds, pests and diseases accurately. Specific approved products are selected instead of broad-spectrum treatments, with short-lived products and buffer zones used to minimise pollution risk.
• Accurate Irrigation Management The upgraded irrigation system uses an on-site weather station, soil-moisture information, computer controls and automatic rain shut-off switches. Sprinkler heads are adjusted to playing surfaces, with irrigation prioritised during evenings and overnight.
• Closed-Loop Washpad System The maintenance washpad operates as a closed-loop system, treating and reusing water. Washing, chemical mixing and refuelling take place on a contained concrete surface, helping control spills and wastewater.
• Public Access Across Common Public footpaths, nature walks and horse-riding routes cross the common. Signage explains where visitors can safely access the landscape and provides guidance on access rights and responsible use.
• Conservation and Industry Partnerships The club works with Surrey Wildlife Trust, wildlife charities and environmental protection organisations on habitat management and conservation. It also shares machinery and raw materials with other local facilities and offers internships, apprenticeships and work experience.
