We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Biodiversity Assessment with Local University A full biodiversity assessment was completed in 2025 by a local university, documenting flora and fauna with high-quality photography.
  • Protected Species Conservation The club has identified three Level 3 protected species under Taiwan law on site: the Collared Scops Owl, Crested Serpent Eagle and Bursar Hawk, with naturalisation and protective buffers already in place.
  • Creek Naturalisation Project The club is actively developing a naturalisation project for the creek running through the property, aimed at habitat enhancement and landscape restoration.
  • Solar Power Expansion Solar panels have been installed on the golf cart storage building, with plans to expand renewable generation to additional buildings.
  • Autonomous Electric Rough Mowers The club uses a fleet of electric autonomous mowers for rough areas, reducing fuel use and improving energy efficiency.
  • Tree Vinegar Pest Control Locally produced tree vinegar, made from dead trees on the golf course, is used as part of the club’s pest management approach, reducing reliance on conventional chemical inputs.
  • Environmental Education for Schools The club regularly hosts local school visits where students learn about environmental management and the flora and fauna found on the course.
  • Circular Products from Fallen Trees The club creates hole in one and eagle certificates from fallen trees, alongside organic soap and insect repellent made from wood vinegar, showcasing creative reuse of on-site materials.

“Hua Kuo Golf Club is a special place in the mountains above Taipei. The club measures success by it’s sustainability and environmental initiatives, rather than a focus on the pursuit of surface performance. Of particular note are the various products creatively made from the cut branches of trees on the golf course, which I have not yet seen in Asia. I look forward to visiting the course again and seeing the results of their newest initiatives.”
