Notable Observations

  • Natura 2000 Protected Landscape The course lies within the Koilada Ezousas Special Protection Area, part of the Natura 2000 network, with undisturbed natural habitats integrated across the site.
  • Historic Vineyard and Olive Grove Maintained Traditional vineyards and olive groves linked to the Monastery of Stavros tis Minthis are actively preserved within the course, maintaining cultural landscape continuity.
  • Native Mediterranean Planting Strategy All new planting prioritises native, drought-tolerant Mediterranean species, selected for low water demand, disease resistance, and pollinator value.
  • Wildlife Corridors and Buffer Zones Habitat patches are connected via wildlife corridors, with no-mow buffer zones established around wetlands and water bodies to protect sensitive species.
  • Lake Aeration to Control Algae An aeration sensor has been installed in the irrigation lake, resulting in a verified reduction in algal growth compared to previous inspections.
  • On-Site Turf Nursery and Core Reuse A dedicated bentgrass turf nursery allows cores from greens renovations to be regrown and reused, avoiding imported sand and reducing water and fertiliser demand.
  • Mechanical-First Turf Management Mechanical practices such as aeration, scarification, verti-cutting and dew removal are consistently used as the primary approach, with chemicals applied only when thresholds are exceeded.
  • Multifunctional Public Recreation Hub Beyond golf, the site provides walking trails, mountain bike routes, sports courts, educational centres, playgrounds, and cultural events, supporting wide community use year-round.
