Sustainable Golf Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

2019, 2022, 2025, for renewal 2030

Notable Observations

  • Expanded Pollinator Habitats Two new flower meadows were established in 2025, while high rough is left until after flowering and cut only once each year. Grass from these areas is collected and used as animal feed, supporting both biodiversity and resource efficiency.
  • Extensive Wildlife Habitat Features The club has installed 90 nesting boxes together with bee and insect hotels to support wildlife across the course. Native oak and pine trees are also being planted as part of a long-term programme to enhance habitats and strengthen the landscape.
  • Long-Term Native Tree Programme As part of the course masterplan, 80 native trees are being planted between 2022 and 2030. The planting programme enhances the course while increasing native woodland habita
  • Electrified and Robotic Maintenance Fleet The club has invested heavily in low-emission maintenance equipment, with nine robotic mowers now operating across the course, all greens mowers running fully on electricity and a hybrid fairway mower reducing diesel consumption.
  • Precision Irrigation Management Greens are monitored using a TDR moisture meter, with hand watering and wetting agents used only where needed. A new Rain Bird irrigation control system was installed in 2025 to further improve irrigation accuracy and efficiency.
  • Circular Materials Management Organic material from the course is composted and reused for planting, tee repairs and earthworks, while recycled sand is used for fairway dressing. The club has also installed a hot-water vehicle washing system, removing the need for chemical degreasers.
  • Modern Golf and Recreation Facilities The club has expanded its practice facilities with new training areas, Toptracer technology and an indoor golf centre featuring six TrackMan simulators. The facilities are open to both members and the wider public throughout the year.
  • Strong Volunteer and Community Support Members contribute around 400 to 500 volunteer hours each year, supporting course improvements, competitions and junior golf. The club also donates competition collections and penalty fees to local charities, including the Cancer Rehab Fund and a women's support organisation
“

“Lidingö Golf Club demonstrates, with its all-time high ratings in customer loyalty and satisfaction (NPS = Net Promoter Score), that the business has developed positively over the years. In recent years, investments have been made at the course, infrastructure areas, and a new practice area. Upcoming challenges will be to increase knowledge, continue documenting biodiversity, and develop management plans for the natural values that require management. Major investments have also been made in electrifying the machine park with many robotic mowers and a hybrid mower. Calculating the reduced emissions of fossil carbon dioxide could have visualised both the club's contribution to global climate benefits and its independence from fossil fuels. I look forward to seeing the club developing sustainability goals with metrics to verify and communicate orientations of intent, decisions, and results in its sustainability work.”
