We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Rare Flora and Habitat Mapping Detailed maps identify rare flora species and priority habitats across the course, supported by a management plan.
  • Amphibian Inventory Completed A comprehensive amphibian inventory has been carried out and mapped, documenting species presence on site.
  • Woodpecker Habitat Compensation Habitat has been created in collaboration with the Swedish Department of Transportation to support red-listed small and green woodpeckers under a formal compensation programme.
  • Increased Reuse of Irrigation Water Tap water use for irrigation has fallen significantly, while reused water volumes increased following construction of new dams.
  • Precision Irrigation Upgrades All greens are fitted with valve-in-head irrigation, supported by moisture meters and a weather station for improved water control.
  • Solar Energy Expansion Solar production has increased substantially, with panels installed on the clubhouse and machinery hall, alongside a renewable electricity tariff.
  • 550 Annual Volunteer Workdays The “Thursday group” of senior members contributes around 550 volunteer workdays each year, supporting course and facility upkeep.
  • Winter Cross-Country Ski Access During winter snowfall, the course is opened for cross-country skiing, strengthening seasonal community use of the land.

“Kungsbacka GK has one of the longest traditions in Sweden of having thorough and well-planned sustainability work. It is wonderful to recognise how this work engages all sectors of the club and also the visitors. If you were to shine a light on some specific areas of the sustainability work, it would be the energy with solar panels, the nature with demanding plans for restoring important biodiversity, and the engagement of the members, especially the “Thursday group”, containing several senior members doing priceless work for the club’s wellbeing. It was a pure joy visiting the club and I hope I’ll have the honour of also playing their fantastic courses in the future.”
