Keddleston Park is very progressive in a number of aspects of working. On the course, significant progress has been made to reduce the areas of in play turf. This is massively reducing manpower, fuel waste, and machinery wear. Robot use is increasing, and the club have a good working relationship with The Cheshire Turf machinery Company for servicing, leasing and replacement. They are currently working with this company to expand the use of automated equipment further. In the clubhouse a biomass boiler helps reduce overall reliance on mains electricity and many initiatives for energy saving are in place. I was surprised to see that even the bar fridges have been considered. Each is provided with its own timer. The club are keen to explore every avenue of sustainability and will set up a dedicated sustainability group to further the environmental initiatives through all areas of the club. I hope that the improvement points I have set within this verification review will help further in this respect. Overall, a very keen, informed and proactive club starting out on their environmental journey. Kedleston Park is widely known for the conservation of its ancient and veteran trees, and I am sure that over the next few years the club will become an exemplar to others for its dedication and passion towards sustainability.
