We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Retention and Protection of Key Trees and Groves The course contains a large number of solitaire trees and groves, including pine, oak, juniper, hazel and fruit trees. Specific trees have been marked as protected and are not allowed to be cut or damaged. These features form a key part of the course landscape.
  • Habitat Management Through Selective Clearing Selective removal of fir, aspen and birch has been carried out in certain groves. This has increased light penetration and supported the spread of light-demanding plants and flowers. Dead trees and large cut timber are left on the ground.
  • Water Features and River Habitat Across the Course The course includes around 7,500 m² of water areas with excavated dams, most of which connect to the Almunge river. The river runs alongside several holes and supports a range of plant and animal life, with traces of beaver and wild boar observed. Birdlife is present in both the river and dam areas.
  • On-Site Solar Energy Generation A total of 132 solar panels were installed at the clubhouse in 2020. This has reduced purchased grid electricity, with energy use dropping from around 160,000 kWh in 2018 to 110,000 kWh in 2020. The system also supplies energy for clubhouse operations and electric maintenance equipment.
  • Renewable Electricity Supply The club has used renewable grid electricity since 2019. Solar production is monitored via a display in the maintenance facility, showing real-time output. A portion of generated electricity has been sold back to the grid.
  • Irrigation from River and On-Site Water Sources Irrigation water is sourced from on-site dams and the Almunge river under a legal permit. Drinking water is supplied from the club’s own well and is regularly tested according to an agreed plan with authorities.
  • Multi-Use Winter and Outdoor Recreation The course is used by a local skiing club, which prepares and maintains Nordic ski tracks during winter conditions. The forests on the course are also used by a local orienteering club for events and competitions.
  • Charity Tournament Supporting Cancer Fund The club hosts an annual charity tournament supporting the Swedish Cancer Fund. The event is organised by a contractor working with the club, with additional contributions from the restaurant on the day.
