Sustainable Golf Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Comprehensive Biodiversity Audit The club has completed a full Biodiversity Audit, giving them detailed insight into species, habitats, and ecological priorities on the course.
  • Drought-Resistant Fairway Overseeding Fairways are being over-seeded with drought-tolerant grasses to reduce fertiliser needs and improve performance during dry periods.
  • Fairways Allowed to Brown The club deliberately allows fairways to brown during hot periods, reducing water demand while keeping playability acceptable.
  • Major Energy Upgrades Heat pumps, solar PV, building controls, and full LED conversion have strengthened energy efficiency across the clubhouse and maintenance facility.
  • 100% Green Electricity The club is supplied exclusively with certified green electricity.
  • Strong Charity Programme The club runs multiple charity events annually, with updated donation records due to significant under-reporting in the initial submission.
  • Active Local Partnerships Grange collaborates closely with its neighbouring public park, sports fields, and local authorities on land-use and community relationships.
  • Environmental Committee Leadership The Environmental Committee has a seat on the club’s Management Committee, embedding sustainability into strategic decision-making.

“Grange Golf Club continues to demonstrate very strong environmental leadership and commitment to sustainable management across all aspects of its operation. Of particular note is their development of a brand-new Course Maintenance Facility, which has greatly improved employee conditions and welfare, and their Decarbonisation Plans with the objective to be Scope 1 & 2 Carbon neutral by 2030. I look forward to seeing their Biodiversity Plan, following the recent audit, that will further protect and enhance the flora and fauna present.”
