Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Ambitious Biodiversity Plan The club has completely overhauled its biodiversity concept, mapping all habitats and tracking protected species. This gives them a clear picture of their ecology and enables ambitious conservation goals that go beyond their previous achievements.
  • Beaver-Driven Wetland Habitats Beavers have created dynamic wetland biotopes on-site, and the club manages these areas closely with authorities. This enhances biodiversity while showcasing a harmonious coexistence with local wildlife.
  • Reduced Managed Turf for Habitat Gains Around 40% of the course is natural habitat, with fairways and semi-roughs narrowed to save resources and create space for native vegetation. This approach cuts maintenance needs and boosts ecological value.
  • Smart Pest and Disease Management The course has embraced precision turf care, using local weather data and research partnerships to manage diseases like dollar spot. This reduces pesticide use and promotes a more sustainable maintenance model.
  • Future-Ready Energy Strategy The facility is phasing in robotic mowers, cutting diesel use and emissions. A detailed energy audit highlights opportunities for solar power and other renewables, positioning the club as a leader in sustainable operations.
  • Responsible Materials and Waste Practices Migros’ procurement policies prioritise local and high-quality products, while PET bottle sales have been reduced with refill stations. Green waste is reused, and improvements to track recycling are planned.
  • Community Education and Collaboration An ecological monitoring commission with NGOs, municipalities, and other stakeholders meets regularly. The club also serves as a training ground for horticulture students, extending its impact beyond golf.
  • Open Access and Inclusive Culture Golfpark Moossee operates under Migros’ “golf for everybody” philosophy, with inclusive programs like junior camps, Fun Golf, and high school initiatives. This makes the facility a welcoming community hub.
