Notable Observations

  • Valley Landscape with Diverse Habitats The course is embedded in a distinct valley landscape and provides a range of green areas that support flora and fauna within a relatively small footprint.
  • Organic Areas Managed by Local Farmers Several organic areas on site are managed by external farmers, maintaining low-input land use and supporting traditional agricultural practices alongside golf.
  • External Amphibian Monitoring Monitoring of amphibians is carried out by external specialist bodies, confirming ecological oversight beyond the club’s internal team.
  • Groundwater Irrigation with Reservoir Irrigation water is drawn from groundwater supported by a reservoir, with annual reporting to the canton. Water use is confirmed as responsible and weather-dependent.
  • Robotic Mowers on Driving Range The driving range is operated using robotic lawnmowers, reducing energy demand from routine mowing operations.
  • No Pesticides Required in 2024 In 2024, no active pest control or herbicide use was required, reflecting effective preventive turf management by the greenkeeping team.
  • Public Access and Regional Networking The facility is open to the public and actively networked within the region, offering sponsorships, handicap courses, and informal collaboration with local partners.
  • Large-Scale Volunteer Events Major recurring events, including European Championships, rely on 80–100 volunteers, demonstrating strong community engagement and support capacity.
“

“On a relatively small area, the facility offers attractive play operations, embedded in a unique valley landscape. Valuable habitats for flora and fauna are available. Their optimisation and networking with the region must be ensured. A carefully developed and introduced concept for differentiated care is eagerly awaited. It not only improves the effectiveness of measures taken, but usually also increases economic efficiency. After implementing all legally compliant adjustments in the area of wastewater and refuelling, the Goflclub Gams has sufficient modern infrastructure to ensure its operation and protect it from risk.“
