“The Golf Club Emmental contains extensive biodiversity on a relatively small surface, most notably in a large protected amphibian habitat which is managed with the guidance of external habitat specialists and in collaboration with school children who help collect wayward frogs and salamanders. The management of the turfgrass surfaces is driven by a minimalist philosophy with few chemical inputs and sparse irrigation. The club also proves to be minimalist in their use of resources but nevertheless have plans for sourcing alternative green energy in the years to come. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of their new red-list indigenous planting project and some further habitat creation informed by new flora and fauna surveys.”
