Notable Observations

• Wildflowers and Birdhouses Wildflower meadows and unmown roughs have been created to support pollinators and reduce maintenance. Over 60 birdhouses have been installed to provide nesting sites for local bird species.
• Restored Pond for Amphibians A pond near hole 5 has been restored and set aside as a protected nature area, supporting frogs and other amphibian life with no disturbance from play or maintenance.
• No-Fertiliser Meadows for Natural Diversity The club manages unfertilised meadow areas to encourage native plants and wildflowers, improving biodiversity and keeping nutrient levels low.
• Rainwater Used For All Irrigation A new rain-fed irrigation pond now supplies 100% of the club’s irrigation needs, removing dependence on mains water and ensuring long-term water security.
• Smarter Turf Management The greenkeeping team has reduced fertiliser use and disease pressure through regular soil testing, careful moisture monitoring, and minimal pesticide application.
• Clippings Used for Biogas and Compost All grass clippings are collected and sent offsite to be turned into biogas or compost, helping reduce waste and support renewable energy.
• Charity Events and Local Partnerships Two charity tournaments are held annually to raise funds for good causes, and the club works with local farmers to help manage shared land.
• Members Plant Trees on the Course Senior members funded and planted 17 trees around the course, creating a visible legacy and strengthening the connection between the club and its landscape.

“Golf Club Blumisberg consistently tests its commitment to the environment through efforts for sustainability. Proof of this is that the facility has been transformed over the past number of years to improve their course playing conditions and environmental credentials.
