Sustainable Golf Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

2024, for renewal 2027

“

After our verification visit, which included a detailed tour of the course, we can summarise the club's sustainability achievements by mentioning four fundamental actions that they have taken: (1) the construction of the largest existing photovoltaic park at an Italian golf club; (2) turfgrass conversion from cool to warm season grasses to have a sustainable turf considering climate change and the necessary saving of the water resources; (3) the restoration of the ancient abbey and court by contributing to the preservation of Italy's cultural heritage with their own economic investment; (4) great sensitivity towards sustainability with a direct commitment to take on board our recommendations for future recertification, also demonstrated by the inclusion of the 2024 data in a very short timeframe. For the recertification the club has committed to: (1) carry out a census of all the species present involving a zoologist and a botanist for the trees; (2) confirm the re-naturalization of the hectares identified to be left to natural evolution; (3) try to increase the quantity of natural organic fertilizers; (4) restructure the maintenance facilities, in particular improving their waterproofing; (5) verify the possibility of placing signalling devices for birds on the high voltage poles that cross the field to avoid accidental deaths; and (6) calculate the carbon footprint of the club. I look forward to seeing this continuous improvement over the coming years!
