We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Biodiversity Audit Completed A biodiversity audit has been conducted to guide long-term conservation management for the site.
  • River Corridor Monitoring and Buffer Zone A river runs through the site and is monitored as it flows into a protected area. A no-spray buffer zone is maintained around the river.
  • Habitat Space in Urban Setting The course is a land-constrained urban site of less than 40 hectares. Secific areas are identified for potential habitat management.
  • Controlled Washdown Area with Recycled Water An impermeable washdown area is in place for machinery cleaning. Water is recycled within this system.
  • Irrigation Applied to Approximately Half the Course Around 50% of turfgrass is irrigated, mainly greens, tees and fairways. Irrigation is managed daily, particularly during dry periods, using two on-site wells.
  • Fuel and Chemical Storage with Spill Protection Fuel is stored in bunded tanks, and chemicals are kept in secure storage areas. Spill containment measures and grease traps are in place within operations.
  • High Levels of Volunteering and Charity Activity Employees delivered approximately 1,200 volunteering hours. The club also hosted 12 charitable events during the year.
  • Multi-Sport and Social Club Environment The club is one of the largest in Ireland, with tennis and padel facilities alongside golf. It operates an active social and recreational programme for members.
