Notable Observations

  • Native Habitat and Tree Expansion More than 700 Ghaf trees have been planted across the site over the past six years, alongside additional native species such as sea purslane, brittlebush and firegrass. These plantings form part of ongoing efforts to increase native vegetation and reshape areas of the course.

These plantings form part of ongoing efforts to increase native vegetation and reshape areas of the course.
  • Targeted Naturalisation and Turf Reduction Selected areas of turf have been converted into native vegetation zones since 2019, with further adjustments ongoing. Firegrass has replaced previous planting in some areas and is maintained using buried drip irrigation.
  • Irrigation Using Treated Effluent Only All irrigation water used on the course is sourced from treated sewage effluent (TSE). This provides a fully alternative water source for irrigation across the facility.
  • Full Irrigation System Renovation The irrigation system was fully renovated in 2024, increasing sprinkler numbers from approximately 1,500 to 2,900. The upgraded system is managed through central control and supported by a team of dedicated irrigation technicians.
  • Advanced Soil Moisture Monitoring Soil moisture is monitored using POGO sensors on greens, alongside progressive implementation of TurfRad technology across other playing areas. An on-site weather station is also used to inform irrigation scheduling.
  • Beekeeping Partnership with Schools The club works with a local Bee Federation as part of its beehive initiative. Schoolchildren visit the site to learn about bees and their role in the environment.
  • Plastic Bottle Elimination Initiative Single-use plastic bottles are not sold on site, with visitors and staff provided with reusable metal bottles. Water refill stations are installed across the course.

"Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club delivers playing conditions of a very high standard while embedding sustainability across all aspects of its operations. The Club is currently immersed in a significant water-efficiency improvement process, having fully renovated its irrigation system and are progressively implementing advanced soil moisture monitoring technologies to further optimise water use. Irrigation is supplied entirely with treated sewage effluent (TSE), demonstrating a strong commitment to responsible water sourcing in a water-scarce region. The facility also shows clear leadership in renewable energy, with extensive on-site photovoltaic installations already in place and further expansion planned. In addition, robust recycling practices across the resort and active community engagement initiatives reflect a holistic and well-integrated approach to environmental and social sustainability."
