Notable Observations

  • Strong Ecological Monitoring Habitat mapping and ecological surveys are actively maintained and expanded. Specialist input includes raptor monitoring, bird ringing, and butterfly, moth and amphibian surveys.
  • White Course Habitat Creation The White Course development has created approximately 12.3 hectares of habitat. More than 1 km of native hedgerow was also planted across 2023–2024.
  • Species Recording and Conservation Species records remained high between 2022 and 2024, with around 170–190 species identified. In 2024, butterfly records increased to 18 species and moth records reached 157 species.
  • Onsite Water Sourcing Water is sourced onsite through borehole abstraction, winter storage and runoff capture. Rainwater from the maintenance facility roof is harvested for spray use, and surface runoff is directed to the irrigation storage lake.
  • Precision Irrigation Management Irrigation is targeted to greens, tees and approaches, with fairways and roughs managed under natural seasonal conditions. Soil moisture is monitored using fixed meters and a Theta probe, supported by weather station data.
  • Reuse and Zero Waste to Landfill Soils, sands and organic matter are reused for divot mix, compost and habitat use. Zero waste to landfill has been achieved, with waste directed to recycling, composting and anaerobic digestion.
  • Charity and Volunteering Impact The club delivers around 5,500 volunteering hours each year. It supports 20 charities across 25 events and raises approximately £35,000 annually.
  • Youth and Conservation Partnerships In 2025, the club partnered with Bath Rugby Foundation to provide young people with hands-on experience in golf coaching, greenkeeping and conservation. Activities included butterfly surveying and habitat management.
