We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Ecological Plan Guiding Management An ecological plan is in place, providing detailed information on habitats and species. Protected areas are understood and incorporated into daily management.
  • Extensive Habitat Mapping and Scrape Creation Extensive mapping of habitats is available across the course. Scrapes have been added as a specific measure to support biodiversity.
  • Large Proportion of Course Left Unmanaged The majority of the course is not maintained, with approximately 101 hectares left as natural habitat and 15 hectares actively maintained. This reflects the links landscape setting.
  • Irrigation System in Use and Monitored The irrigation system has been upgraded and is used across the course. It is monitored regularly, with daily management decisions guiding its use.
  • Groundwater Source Registered with EPA Groundwater is used as the primary irrigation source and is registered with the EPA. Water use is managed in line with this registration.
  • Clubhouse Investment and Energy Systems The clubhouse has undergone significant upgrades, including improvements to insulation and roof structure, with approximately €1.25 million invested. The building operates using gas boilers and a CHP unit, with energy performance assessed through a BER rating.
  • Public Walkway Through the Course A public walkway runs through the golf course and is supported by the club. This provides access for the wider community.
  • Charity Events Programme Five charity events were held in the previous year. These form part of the club’s community engagement activities.
