We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognize the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Decade-Long Ecological Monitoring Programme The club has been recording flora and fauna data for more than ten years. These long-term records are used to monitor environmental conditions and guide habitat and conservation strategies across the property.
  • Vegetation Plan Guiding Habitat Management An extensive vegetation management plan is used to naturalise parts of the course and optimise conditions for wildlife habitats. The plan is informed by ongoing ecological monitoring and species studies.
  • Priority Species Mapping and Habitat Guidance The club’s ecological studies identify priority species, map their locations, and document recommended methods for maintaining and improving their habitats.
  • Carbon Footprint Calculator Development The club began developing a carbon calculator in 2024 to measure and document its environmental footprint.
  • Solar Water Heating for Pool Facilities Solar water heaters have been installed for the club’s swimming pool, reducing the energy demand associated with heating water.
  • On-Site Wastewater Treatment and Monitoring The club operates its own wastewater treatment facility, continuously monitoring water quality and supplementing this with periodic third-party testing.
  • Agricultural Student Training Access The club works with local universities by allowing agricultural students access to the facility for training and learning purposes.
  • Walking Trails with Distance Markers Walking trails with distance markers are provided around the course so members can walk the property for exercise without playing golf

“CRCC continues to perform above standard levels with regards to their environmental footprint through the operation of the golf course. Their detailed and focused monitoring of natural conditions including the vegetation, fauna and now general consumption of resources throughout the property enables them to identify areas of opportunity and optimize areas where they are already excelling. With their new initiative to include a carbon calculator to document their real footprint, they will be even better suited to continue improving on their already exceptional performance. The opportunities for further improvement will be better identified once they start getting feedback from their carbon calculator to mitigate their environmental footprint. It is also suggested that they perform social surveys in their community to identify improvements to the social aspects of the club as well as the overall wellbeing of their community.”
