Notable Observations

  • Purple Martin Bird Houses Purpose-built Purple Martin houses have helped increase the local population, verified through the Purple Martin Bird Society. The club maintains a close relationship with the Society and monitors nests onsite.
  • 20–30 Bee Hives Between 20 and 30 bee hives are located in designated pollinator areas and managed by a third party. Honey is sold at certain times, with proceeds donated to charity.
  • Hand-Weeding and Invasive Control Weeds around ponds and the creek are removed by hand, while the club works with the local municipality to control invasive Scotch broom. A municipal hand-pulling tool is used as part of this work.
  • 50,000-Gallon Irrigation Project: A future irrigation initiative is projected to save around 50,000 gallons of water per day. The club already uses soil-moisture monitoring, regular irrigation checks and wetting agents to support efficient watering.
  • Solar-Powered Maintenance Sheds The maintenance sheds are powered by solar energy. The club is also progressively introducing electric and hybrid maintenance vehicles and equipment.
  • Onsite Garden and Composting A dedicated horticulturist maintains an onsite food garden and greenhouse. Composting is also in place, with compost reused in the gardens and for course maintenance.
  • Flowers and Honey for Charity Flowers are clipped and made into bouquets for sale at the clubhouse, while locally produced honey is also sold. Proceeds from both are directed to charitable causes.
  • Dancing on the Green The club hosts the annual “Dancing on the Green” event for neighbouring residents. A strong junior programme and junior camps also provide wider opportunities for participation.
“

“Cordova Bay Golf Course is another outstanding example of how exceptional golf course conditioning and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. The superintendent and his entire team deserve tremendous recognition for the pride, care, and attention to detail they bring to the property every day. The condition of Cordova Bay is exceptional, with an obvious commitment to presentation, playability, and the health of the turf and surrounding landscape. What stands out just as much, however, is the detail beyond the playing surfaces. The floral gardens, natural areas, landscaping, and overall presentation demonstrate a level of care that makes the entire property feel thoughtfully managed rather than simply maintained. From the immaculate course to the beautiful gardens and the thoughtful environmental practices behind them, the superintendent and his team have created something that deserves recognition. Cordova Bay Golf Course is a wonderful example of golf course professionals taking genuine pride in both the game and the environment.”
