Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.  The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility.  We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable observations

  • Habitat Conservation and Biodiversity: The resort collaborates with Gwent Wildlife Trust to support wildlife, housing 27 ancient woodland-linked species. Efforts include partnerships to protect wetlands and wildlife-rich areas like Wentwood Forest, managed in coordination with Newport City Council​ .
  • Active Wildlife Projects: Celtic Manor has introduced bee colonies, bug hotels, and bird boxes to promote natural pest control and pollination. The estate also supports species such as skylarks and dormice by maintaining migration routes​.
  • Sustainable Water Management: The resort has invested over £5 million in sustainable irrigation systems that conserve 60,000 m³ of water annually and benefit local wildlife. This system eliminates the need for mains water by using a closed-loop system​.
  • Renewable Energy Initiatives: The resort uses 100% renewable energy supported by REGO-backed tariffs and offsets carbon emissions through its 93-hectare woodland. Plans are underway to install a solar farm by 2030​.

It also safeguards significant wild grasslands, wetlands and woodlands to support wildlife and promote biodiversity. Additionally, it has implemented advanced rainwater harvesting, electrified its vehicle fleet, achieved zero waste in landfills, and sources 100% of its energy from REGO-backed renewable tariffs.
