Notable Observations

  • GIS Mapping of Natural Values and Cultural Sites In 2021, Örnborg Kyrkander Biologi & Miljö AB carried out a GIS-based analysis of Bredareds Golf Club, mapping habitats, natural values, and archaeological remains. This provides a detailed spatial foundation for biodiversity management across the property.
  • Pollination and Wild Bee Habitat Project The club collaborated with the County Administrative Board in 2020 to create pollination habitats for wild bees. It continues to maintain insect hotels, birdhouses, and fauna depots, strengthening local biodiversity.
  • Use of Biostimulants and Microorganisms for Soil Health Soil health on greens is actively improved with biostimulants, beneficial microorganisms, and microfungi that support mycorrhizal activity. This reduces chemical dependency and strengthens natural turf resilience.
  • Smart Irrigation System Upgrade For the 2025 season, the club invested in a new Rainbird control system and SMART pump controls, alongside gradual sprinkler replacement. Moisture meters and weather forecasts guide irrigation timing to optimise water use.
  • Electrification and Geothermal Heating Several electric robotic mowers and ball pickers have replaced fossil-fuelled machines, reducing energy demand. The clubhouse operates with geothermal heating, and an air-to-air heat pump serves the training studio.
  • Sustainable Purchasing Policy and Waste Sorting Stations A documented purchasing policy guides all buying toward ecological, social, and economic sustainability. Refurbished three-compartment waste-sorting stations were installed on the course, reinforcing the reuse principle.
  • Published Sustainability Report Bredareds Golfklubb prepares and publicly shares an annual Sustainability Report covering nature, resources, and community performance. This transparency makes the club a national example of open sustainability communication.
  • Charity Competitions and Volunteering The club hosts charity tournaments supporting causes such as the Heart Child Foundation and local hospital therapy programs, while long-term volunteers — the “Monday Gang” — help maintain the course and facilities.
“

“Bredareds Golf Club is well-managed and has a welcoming atmosphere. This is in line with its vision - ‘together, we are creating a bright and sustainable future for golf, people and the planet’. Bredareds Golf Club actively and systematically promotes sustainability improvements in a very good way. The club produces an outstanding sustainability report annually that shows a high level of maturity and ambition, as well as the importance of pursuing, measuring, and communicating sustainability issues. The report presents the club's status, purpose, goals, and results in an exemplary manner to members and the wider community. It has been very gratifying to read and experience on-site. The club's most significant sustainable challenge will be to continue upgrading and optimizing sprinklers in the irrigation system and to utilise and store larger amounts of water for future irrigation needs. Investigations and consultations with authorities are ongoing. I look forward to seeing the results of the coming water supply. An expanded list of species on the course, together with a documented management plan for the area's habitats and biological values, will further advance the club's sustainability position in strengthening biodiversity. Keep the pace, and good luck with the sustainability work in the coming years.”
