The drive to eliminate single-use plastic is proving to be a success at Luffenham Heath. It is not uncommon for golfers to arrive with only a few minutes spare for their tee time – an inexpensive plastic bottle of water is the easy option! As a result, we have taken a two-part process to cut down on these impulse purchases of single-use plastic bottles.
Firstly, we have ensured all drinks sold in our pro shop are made of recyclable materials, such as an aluminium can. Secondly, we have sourced Luffenham Heath branded insulated water bottles that members and guests can purchase and reuse time and time again. In addition to this, we have installed a water refill station conveniently located outside the clubhouse near the first tee area. Therefore, golfers can quickly fill up their insulated water bottles before heading to the tee, saving them time and money in the long run. The initiative has been well received by our members and staff.
