In the year 2021, amidst the challenging circumstances of COVID restrictions, Golf Club Lipperswil seized the opportunity to undertake a complete refurbishment of its restaurant, Twenty7. Embracing the principles set forth by GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, a conscious decision was made to collaborate with local companies and suppliers for this transformative project.

As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, the lighting system was upgraded to energy-efficient LED fixtures, resulting in substantial energy savings and reduced maintenance requirements. Local workers played a pivotal role in the demolition and reconstruction process, showcasing the talent and craftsmanship within our community. Remarkably, approximately 90% of the suppliers and workers involved in this endeavor were located within a maximum radius of 15 kilometers from the Golf Club, emphasising our dedication to supporting local businesses and reducing transportation-related emissions.

An extraordinary highlight of this refurbishment was the construction of the centerpiece - the main table. Serving as a gathering place for all to sit, meet, and exchange stories, the table was crafted from the wood of a walnut tree that had fallen in the parking area nearly eight years prior. The tree trunk had been thoughtfully stored by a local carpenter's workshop, where young trainees skillfully transformed it into a unique and exquisite piece of furniture. Notably, the walnut tree had originally belonged to Mr. Roman Ochsner, the visionary behind the Golf Course's inception in 1992. Now at the age of 86, Mr. Ochsner cherishes the opportunity to enjoy weekend lunches at "his table," a meaningful testament to the enduring connection between past and present.
