The R&A Women’s Amateur takes the well-deserved spotlight within our calendar of events. After hosting the event in 1922 and 1968, it was a real honor to welcome back such a prestigious championship. On June 13th, we had 143 of the best women amateur golfers take to the 1st hole of the Shore for the start of what was a thrilling championship event. They played 36 holes of stroke play from Tuesday to Wednesday, and then the top 64 players entered into the match play stages of the event – with a 36-hole final commencing on Sunday. Some of the players included world number one, Ingrid Lindblad, as well as Hannah Darling, Valentina Rossi, Grace Crawford, Francesca Fiorellini, Eila Galitsky, Lorna McClymont, Jess Baker, and Ting-Hsuan Huang – the remainder of the current reigning major tournament champions.
Strokeplay: Congratulations to Beth Coulter, who led the field after the stroke play portion of the event – with an impressive total of -5 under par! Despite some tough windy conditions, we witnessed some incredibly impressive golf played.
Matchplay: We’d also like to congratulate Chiara Horder, the 2023 Women’s Amateur Champion!
