The Omega European Masters is working hard to eliminate single-use plastics. As a first step, in 2019, the tournament used consigned eco-cups as well as biodegradable tableware. In 2021, the event levelled up to 100% fully reusable tableware only. This drastically reduced the amount of waste the event produced.
Since 2019, waste sorting bins have been deployed all around the event site to ensure proper recycling. Staff have been specifically dedicated to sorting the waste correctly, ensuring an efficient reduction in trash going to landfill. Furthermore, as an example of reusing material and resources, the event’s furniture is reused from year-to-year, some dating back from UEFA EURO 2008 in Switzerland.
