Sustainable sheds, from demolition to everyday use

In 2016 we built a new maintenance facility for our growing greens team and large machinery fleet with the latest energy efficient technology. The aggregate spoil from the old buildings site was crushed, used for base material and levelling, while the wood and tin were recycled by a local contractor so nothing went to landfill

The new structure itself absorbs the heat of the sun and insulation throughout retains it. All power is generated by 48 photo-voltaic panels and the whole shed is fitted out with LED lighting which is self-sustainable at full capacity. The water is also heated by the panels and the air-to-air heat pump warms the building internally. We use under floor heating for the communal area which also runs off the solar PV system and we are introducing some electric vehicles to our fleet which can be charged by our own electricity.
