To support local wildlife and reduce conflicts between birds and infrastructure, dedicated osprey nesting towers have been installed near existing power poles on the golf course.
As large birds of prey, ospreys naturally seek elevated locations for nesting. While power poles can provide attractive nesting sites, they also pose significant dangers, including the risk of electrocution for adults and chicks, as well as potential disruptions to electricity infrastructure.
The nesting towers provide a safe and suitable alternative, meeting the species’ natural habitat requirements while supporting successful breeding opportunities. By encouraging ospreys to nest away from utility structures, the project benefits both wildlife conservation and site management.
Ospreys are important indicators of environmental health, relying on healthy aquatic ecosystems and abundant fish populations. Their presence reflects the quality of the surrounding environment and demonstrates the club’s commitment to protecting biodiversity and maintaining a balanced ecosystem.
The project also creates opportunities to engage golfers, staff, and visitors with local conservation efforts, helping to raise awareness of the wildlife that shares the course landscape.
