In December 2023, we installed two Kazuba Dry Loo Eco Toilets to provide environmentally responsible outdoor facilities. Located close to designated Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), conventional septic tanks and mains sewer connections were not suitable or viable. The Kazuba system provided a sustainable, off-grid alternative designed for sensitive environments.
The toilets are completely waterless, requiring no flushing water, mains supply, septic tank, sewer connection, chemicals or electricity. They use natural processes of evaporation, dehydration and ventilation, separating liquid and solid waste while airflow, wind and solar heat help evaporate moisture and dry solids.
The toilets were carefully positioned within the existing sand-dune landscape. Marram grass was planted around the structures following installation to help integrate them naturally into their surroundings and minimise visual impact. This approach supports our commitment to maintaining the course in as natural a condition as possible and protecting the sensitive environment in which it is located.
