In April 2026, Strandhill Golf Club completed the installation and commissioning of a solar PV system at the clubhouse. The system consists of 80 solar panels with a total capacity of 38.6kW, linked to a heat pump for hot water and a battery storage system for electricity. From April to mid-September 2026, the system generated approximately 19,000 kWh of electricity, while the club used around 41,000 kWh. Solar generation therefore met approximately 49% of the club’s electricity requirements during this period, significantly reducing reliance on grid electricity and supporting our commitment to renewable energy and sustainable operations. The installation was partially funded through Irelands Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP). This investment represents an important step towards reducing the club’s carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency and increasing our use of renewable energy.
