Species on the Edge is a ground-breaking partnership led by NatureScot and seven conservation charities, aiming to improve the future of 37 priority species along Scotland’s coasts and islands.
Over four and a half years, the programme tackles the impacts of environmental change on wildlife, benefiting both nature and people. Partners include Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, Bat Conservation Trust, Buglife, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Butterfly Conservation, NatureScot, Plantlife, and RSPB Scotland.
Carnoustie Golf Links is proud to support the Small Blue Butterfly through habitat creation and planting kidney vetch, its key food source.
Last year, we welcomed Primary 7 pupils from Woodlands Primary to help plant kidney vetch on the course. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm for local wildlife and ecology.
The project’s aims include safeguarding coastal biodiversity, building community support networks, raising awareness of biodiversity’s importance to Scotland, and strengthening conservation partnerships.
