To lower costs and its carbon footprint, we have installed a network of solar panels across the golf course to power the irrigation system. The panels now power the our purposely designed smart irrigation system by using batteries and solar instead of electricity.
The solar panels are discreetly attached to the irrigation boxes and the technology and batteries are housed in these same boxes. The irrigation system uses smart technology to control and programme its schedules and timings, slashing energy consumption and greatly reducing water wastage.
Plans are already in place to expand the technology to include temperature, wind and rainfall data to remotely alter irrigation programmes as and when required, dependant on changing weather patterns and conditions.
