It was decided to alter rough mowing lines on out of play areas to return 1.8 hectares back to nature to deliver definition, character and improved aesthetics on holes as well as reduce labour requirements, fuel and emissions. This has proved a great success in recent years resulting in a saving of 5 man hours and 45 litres of diesel per week. In the past four years, we have saved 5,400 litres of fuel and costs of £5,000. These rewilded areas are now filled with native grasses, wildflowers, mammals, insects and grassland birds.
