A big thank you to NHGC members and staff. At our club, we have implemented a successful system that prioritises reuse, recycling, and donation, effectively reducing waste sent to landfill.
To support the Surrey Air Ambulance and minimise waste, milk bottle tops are collected by our staff and members. These bottle tops are then donated, generating income for the charity. This initiative not only helps in waste reduction but also contributes to a fantastic cause. Additionally, we actively donate used stamps to The British Hedgehog Preservation Society and bras to the local hospice charity shop. These items help contribute to the important work carried out by these organisations by generating essential donations.
To establish a closed-loop material cycle and reduce the need for single-use items, our catering team also returns egg boxes to our supplier for reuse. Lastly, all of our batteries are responsibly recycled. By ensuring proper disposal, we prevent potential chemical leakage that could harm the environment if the batteries were to end up in landfill. This helps safeguard against soil and water pollution.
