Following four years of planning, a major restoration project was undertaken to restore 200 metres of eroded shoreline along the 8th hole of the historic Jubilee Course. The project involved importing 20,000 tonnes of sand, installing 500 metres of dune fencing, and planting 3,000 marram grass plants to stabilise the coastline and encourage natural dune formation.
This long-standing area of coastal erosion has now been restored using nature-based solutions that strengthen the resilience of the shoreline while preserving the character of this iconic hole. The project not only helps slow future erosion but also supports natural coastal processes, enhances biodiversity through the creation of new dune habitat, and safeguards the long-term sustainability of the course.
