Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club has become the country’s first sustainability-focused, single-use plastic-free golf course. Since 2019, plastic water bottles and other soft drink containers have been eliminated from the bar cart and clubhouse restaurant. This initiative has reduced the use of over 70,000 plastic bottles annually.
Golfers now receive reusable bottles, which can be refilled with filtered water at the caddie area or directly from the bar cart. Soft drinks and sparkling water are still available but served in reusable glass bottles. This effort is part of Iberostar's broader commitment to ecotourism, demonstrating that sustainability can go hand in hand with quality service.
