To ensure a reduced use of pesticides - as the Bukit golf course is located next to MacRitchie Reservoir - The Singapore Island Country Club uses two common types of sustainable native grass that require minimal irrigation and maintenance. They can thrive in superior low light and has high shade tolerance while having excellent resistance to insects and grass diseases. Classic push-up greens are used on the course to help reduce fertiliser and water use as it requires no drainage due to their elevation, hence little to no maintenance. It saves up to 80% on water consumption.
