Automation of operational processes is increasingly recognised as an effective means of reducing carbon emissions. As technology advances, automation is becoming more accessible within the golf industry, and Elm Park has committed to adopting suitable solutions.
The club has invested in a fully autonomous driving range ball collection and delivery system. Range balls are now collected by an automated unit, with washing and dispensing also carried out automatically. In addition, Elm Park is investing in autonomous mowing technology. Several systems have been evaluated in recent years, and the club has selected a solution capable of operating effectively in tree-lined areas. GPS and sonar technologies are used to map tree locations and operating boundaries.
Elm Park plans to have two autonomous mowing units fully operational for the 2026 season, with additional units introduced thereafter. All autonomous technologies currently deployed are electrically powered. The club also intends to transition to 100% renewable energy to supply these systems, significantly reducing its overall carbon footprint.
