This off-season we have carried on removing specific bunkers from the golf course. This is in an effort to reduce the high maintenance and resource levels that bunkers create whilst also still maintaining a challenging and enjoyable golf course. This year we have removed four more bunkers and are re-shaping and reducing one other. Surveys have been done on the impact of bunkers on both time management as well as budget. The average course will spend over £40,000 annually maintaining their bunkers and around 1 in 10 of these bunkers are not necessary for the courses gameplay. By removing bunkers we are not only reducing the time that is spent on maintenance but we are also increasing the budget that we can use on other areas of the course, all whilst continuing to provide a challenging and enjoyable golf course for players.
