To save water and therefore money, we had to invest a substantial amount. It started 3 years ago with a fairway robot mower which, not only drastically improved the course quality, but also saved a lot of hours a week that could allow for greens maintenance and thus irrigation. This allowed us to optimise the irrigation sequences over the past 3 years, gave time to place rain gauge on greens and measure the mm applied on each area (see last picture in gallery), and most importantly, allowed us to properly hand water dry-spots which prevent an over-irrigation. On these last 3 years, we also started replacing all tees and greens sprinkler heads which make the irrigation much more efficient. And as our Signature/John Deere controller broke down last year (2020), we took the opportunity to replace it with a system that gives us control via a mobile phone.
