Recycling timber for fences, bird and bat boxes

Brocket Hall

Timber from our woodland management programme has been given a new home, making new homes. Bat and bird boxes were created using guides from The Wildlife Trusts website and placed in trees near known roosts to provide extra space to roost.

Three boxes were placed near each other following guidance from new research suggesting a higher roosting chance with more boxes nearby. Boxes were made from fallen larch trees from around the estate.

Old fences were also replaced using coppiced Chestnut to produce a post and rail traditional fence, providing a fresh and updated look whilst saving money and resources.
