To mark World Environment Day, Aphrodite Hills Resort organised a battery recycling competition to raise awareness of responsible waste management and encourage staff participation across all departments.
Running from 13-20 June 2025, the initiative encouraged employees to bring in used and unwanted batteries for safe disposal and recycling. During the competition week, 9 kg of batteries were collected, comprising 1 kg from the Resort and 8 kg from the Hotel.
The initiative complemented ongoing recycling efforts at the Hotel, which had collected a further 50 kg of used batteries prior to the competition. In total, 59 kg of batteries were sent for recycling on 23 June 2025.
By combining staff engagement with practical action, the initiative helped divert potentially harmful waste from general waste streams while raising awareness of responsible disposal and encouraging more sustainable behaviours across the resort.
