Our concrete cart paths are failing around the property, mainly due to the clay soils and how they tend to shrink and swell with the weather events, thus causing the concrete to fail. In addition, in our area of San Antonio, we are located in the recharge zone of the Edwards Aquifer. This zone has restrictions on the amount of Impervious cover (concrete) that is allowed. Therefore by using an alternative material to re-establish our cart paths, we can return the impervious cover that currently is utilized by concrete cart paths back to our owner for future development.
We are replacing our cart paths using Porous Pave. Porous Pave utilizes ground up rubber (usually from old tires that would normally be littering dump sites) mixed with a polymer to establish a fully drainable solid surface. Water is able to move through this product and into a subsurface drainage system utilized by the golf course. The rubber base is also able to flex with the ever moving clay base, therefore preventing cracks and imperfections to the path.
