A few years ago, we started sowing the seeds of flower mixtures on a limited number of areas outside the playing field of the golf course. This project received a range of positive feedback and we have therefore worked to extend these areas each year.
Now, you can find the flower fields in over 20 locations across our golf course. We sow various types of flower seeds, 100% regionally based, with a primary focus on mixtures that attract bees and butterflies. This not only encourages biodiversity, but has had a number of experiential and aesthetic benefits.
The moment you pass our entrance gate in the summertime, you can almost become mesmerized by the different colors, the different and unusual flowers (which you don’t find in a shop!), the humming of the bees, and the broad range of insects.
We are looking forward to build on this work and continue to enhance the project over the coming years. This is an ecological footprint to be proud of, making everybody happy and smile!
