At Minthis Golf Club, we reduce waste and enhance landscape health by transforming pruned tree branches into mulch for use across the course. The purchase of a new woodchipper has delivered significant ecological benefits.
Routine pruning is essential for safe play, healthy plant growth, and course aesthetics. Rather than removing this organic material off site, branches are processed into natural mulch, turning green waste into a valuable on-site resource. The mulch is applied around tree bases, landscaped beds, and naturalised areas, creating a closed-loop system that benefits both the course and the surrounding environment.
Reusing pruned material reduces disposal needs and transport-related emissions. Organic mulch helps retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, and enrich the soil as it decomposes, improving root health and soil structure. It also suppresses weeds, reducing the need for herbicides, and conserves water by limiting evaporation, an important factor in Mediterranean conditions.
